Robert Half Tax Staff - Public in Chicago, Illinois

Description We are in search of a meticulous and experienced Tax Staff - Public to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves substantial interaction with clients, attorneys, the Internal Revenue Service, and state revenue agencies. You will be expected to manage and execute various tax-related tasks, from preparing and reviewing tax filings to maintaining QuickBooks records for corporate clients.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively and constructively interact with clients, attorneys, the Internal Revenue Service, and state revenue agencies.

• Prepare and review federal and state tax filings for personal, corporate and trust entities from inception to completion.

• Oversee QuickBooks records for corporate clients.

• Display proficiency with computer software such as Excel, Outlook, Lacerte, among others.

• Maintain various lists including client/return status charts.

• Willingly work as a team player, assist with overflow work and projects as required.

• Manage tax projection work, running scenarios for several different strategies, to provide clients with choices on how to manage their tax situation.

• Respond to IRS contact in regards to tax notices, and assist clients who are currently under audit.

• Demonstrate outstanding organization, project management and prioritization skills, maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism, and provide excellent client communication skills.

• Work closely with clients and key staff on problem-solving and client services. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must.

• Prior experience with Compliance protocols and procedures.

• Excellent Customer Service skills.

• Ability to handle Corporate Tax Return tasks.

• Knowledge of Tax - Trust & Estate is required.

• Familiarity with Trust Returns.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

• Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is beneficial.

• Familiarity with tax software and databases.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to meet tight deadlines.
