Summary

CHS, Inc is in search of a Safety Specialist to join the Animal Nutrition team in our Nutrition feed facility in Great Falls, MT! Day to day you will partner with location leaders & employees to deliver feed/occupational safety training, administer audits, record keeping and ensure safety standards are being met. This position will be onsite daily from 8-4:30p and is expected to travel quarterly to our feed mill in Circle, MT, and additional locations as needed on an annual basis. Responsibilities

  • With assistance, coordinate compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) and Food Safety related requirements (federal, state, local, and company).”

  • Assist in the development and implementation of EH&S related plans, programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Conduct most basic EH&S related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analysis, and maintain detailed recordkeeping.

  • Provide first aid for minor injuries and coordinate prompt medical attention for more serious injuries.

  • Conduct accident investigations, manage worker’s compensation process, and return to work program.

  • Communicate EH&S related requirements and expectations to other departments and personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.

  • Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Keep current on all applicable EH&S related rules and regulations.

  • Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and/or Safety

Additional Qualifications

  • Mill, Manufacturing or production experience preferred

  • Responsibility to manage food safety programs and other related documentations

  • Proficient in Microsoft office and other computer programs

  • Ability to complete OSHA 30 hour training certification program and/or Food Safety training (PCQI and HACCP)

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field

  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment needed to inspect facilities

  • Ability to work in dusty and adverse and changeable weather conditions
