The Lead Youth Specialist is a vital position that bridges the gap between staff and clients. You will be responsible for overseeing and supporting staff and youth during your shift, ensuring that all tasks are completed, and providing guidance and mentorship. Working closely with the leadership team and activities coordinator, you will develop and implement engaging schedules and activities tailored to the youth's needs.

Key Responsibilities:• Facilitate Interactions - Act as an active member of the leadership team, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for therapeutic transformation.• Support Staff and Youth - Continuously assess and positively support staff and youth interactions, identifying client strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.• Provide Supervision - Offer direct and indirect supervision to assigned staff and youth, ensuring the implementation of therapeutic treatment plans and program expectations.• Develop and Implement Activities - Work with the leadership team and activities coordinator to create and execute engaging schedules and activities that promote healthy life skills.• Communicate and Collaborate - Maintain open communication with leadership to address overall youth needs, including clothing, supplies, correspondence, and inventory updates.• Crisis Management - Implement crisis prevention and management techniques, utilizing authorized de-escalation methods as needed.• Documentation and Reporting - Document and report exceptional behavior and areas of concern related to client behaviors and interactions.• Medication Administration - Prepare and administer medications as per physicians' orders and guidelines set by the medical team.• Transportation - Transport youth to and from school, community outings, and appointments.• Role Model - Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating healthy verbal and non-verbal behavior and promoting an environment of hope and resilience.• Adapt and Facilitate Activities - Supervise, plan, and facilitate scheduled activities, adapting as needed to meet the needs of the youth.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:• High School Diploma or GED• Experience in Human Services or a related field• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred• Reliable transportation with collision insurance to cover the transport of clients

Additional Qualifications:• Knowledge of confidentiality laws pertaining to substance use and mental health disorder treatment• Ability to establish rapport with the client population• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports• Multitasking and prioritization skills, with a focus on programmatic functioning• Demonstrated leadership abilities• Experience or interest in curricula development
