Minimum Qualifications Appointment method:This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class. As such, the incumbent of this position would serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. Through engagement, data-driven regulation and policy, and operational excellence, the Department and its employees are responsible for empowering consumers and protecting them from financial harm; ensuring the health of the entities we regulate; driving economic growth in New York through responsible innovation; and preserving the stability of the global financial system.The Executive Deputy Superintendent for Cybersecurity Division’s responsibilities include enforcing the Department’s cybersecurity regulations, conducting cybersecurity examinations, and issuing guidance on DFS’s cybersecurity regulations. The Division helps industry protect itself by disseminating trends and threat information about cyber-attacks. Other duties include:• Engages with industry and government partners on the Department’s cybersecurity policy and enforcement;• Supervises a team of specialist cybersecurity and IT examiners, and the modernization of cybersecurity supervision;• Oversees the implementation of the Department’s cybersecurity program;• Reviews and approves cybersecurity enforcement actions;• Approves all cybersecurity guidance and alerts issued by the Department;• Works with the Consumer Protection and Financial Enforcement Division to ensure compliance;• Conducts examinations of regulated entities for compliance with DFS’s cybersecurity regulations and evaluates the full spectrum of regulatory requirements;• Reviews organizations procedures, personnel, and technical capabilities in providing necessary and meaningful cybersecurity;• Issues guidance on the implementation of cybersecurity regulations; and• Takes the lead on formulating new cybersecurity regulations as they become necessary.• Coordinates with state, federal, and international regulators and law enforcement regarding cybersecurity policy and issues.

Additional Comments Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $3,400 annual downstate adjustment.
