The Technology Business Management (TBM) team powers American Express Tech Strategy by enabling Predictability, Transparency, and Efficiency through best-in-class Tech Business Management capabilities. Within TBM is the Technology Portfolio Management team (TPM) which powers technology, business, and product to achieve business and customer value by optimizing technology investments, elevating transparency and enabling decisioning through trusted insights and best in class portfolio and program management.

Within the Technology Portfolio Management team, the Manager of Enterprise Investment Planning will help drive and support the Technology Investment Annual Planning process, enabling process optimizations and promote greater accountability across multiple stakeholders within the Enterprise. This strategic role will actively drive and evolve changes to the existing process to enable the future state, managing the enterprise planning calendar and deliverable to drive investment decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a business-oriented and data-driven mindset, growing passion for process and driving innovation, and possess the ability to partner with others to drive changes. This highly visible role will require a collaborative orientation and strong attention to detail to help evolve the way we manage our technology investment.

This is a hybrid role based in New York; Hybrid colleagues work a mix of in-office and virtual days, coming into the office 3 days per week. Leaders and colleagues will plan common days for in-person connection, collaboration, and events.

What you’ll do:

  • Enable financial and capacity planning & forecasting across a $2.0B Technology investment portfolio, including scenario planning and ad-hoc analytics

  • Support Enterprise Investment Planning, and enable actionable insights to Technology Leadership to manage delivery risk and optimize investments across and within portfolios

  • Build and maintain a strong partnership with Tech Finance to collaborate and execute deliverables for the Enterprise forecasting, annual and long-range plans

  • Drive process optimizations to transform Technology investment process, planning, and investment decisions

  • Manage investment planning calendar, driving awareness and execution of critical milestones

  • Support stakeholder feedback sessions to inform solutions and drive high customer satisfaction

Who you are:

  • Intellectually curious and data-driven with prior experience in financial scenario modeling, data analytics and executive summarization to avert risk and support recommendations

  • Strong communicator with the ability to engage, and partner with others to work towards shared outcomes and influence without authority

  • Results oriented, with demonstrated results in a fast paced and dynamic environments

  • Passion for continual improvement, process re-tooling, and automation; seeks new ways to improve effectiveness, quality, and compliance

  • Well-versed in the processes and tools that drive Technology portfolio and financial management such as Rally, Jira, Clarity, Apptio, Oracle, and Ariba

  • Familiar with Agile and SAFe methodologies; empathetic to Agile team needs
